The short version
Your documents never leave your browser. mdtohtml has no accounts, no database of your content, and no interest in your data.
Your documents
Markdown conversion, theming and preview run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type, paste, upload or import is sent to our servers. When you create a free "instant link", your document is compressed into the part of the URL after the # symbol (the fragment). Browsers do not send URL fragments to servers, so shared documents are decoded and rendered only on the reader's device.
Local storage
To improve your experience, we store two things in your browser's local storage: your current draft (so you don't lose work when closing the tab) and your dark-mode preference. This data stays on your device and can be cleared at any time via your browser settings.
What we do collect
Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (IP address, user agent, requested page) for security and abuse prevention. We may use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to count page views in aggregate. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell data to anyone.
Third-party services
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and JavaScript libraries from the cdnjs content delivery network. These providers may receive standard web requests (such as your IP address) when your browser fetches those files. No document content is included in these requests.
Future Pro features
If you later use Pro short links (not yet available), the specific document you choose to share will be stored on our servers for the retention period you select, and this policy will be updated with details before launch. Free features will continue to work without any upload.
